Outlets...

Carliegh and Reid I crocheted the orange and black hat for Halloween.

Zach's mom made the hat and I made the dress.

I made this dress to match Lissie's. I had to shrink the pattern to fit Carliegh, but should have shortened the apron a little more.
I love making the new fabric headbands. They are fun and easy.
This is Zach's creative outlet. The kids love it. He is almost done, too bad it's nearly winter.

Frida dress again!

This dress is super easy to make and I love the way it turns out!!! Allissa likes it to...I used Patty Young's Frida pattern and Sandi Henderson's Fruit market fabric to make it.

Carleigh Jane sleeping in her crib! She is using the quilt I made. I also made her the little non slip clippie that is in her hair! I put three rhinestones on it!

Carseat cover/4th of july outfit

So here is one of the finished car seat covers! I still have to figure out how to make a slip cover for the visor! Maybe that will happen today sometime! I LOVE the way it turned out! I can't wait to put little Carleigh Jane in it!!!

The outfit Lissie is wearing is the one I made for her this year! Natalie is wearing the outfit that I made for Allissa last year! Allissa is 13 months older then Natalie but you can't tell by their size!

So to date I have finished three of the four crib sheets, three of the four quilt tops, both the carseat covers. What I have left to do in the next week and a half...

  • Finish putting together the last quilt top
  • Bind all four quilts (have all the strips cut just need to iron and sew)
  • Make visor covers for carseats update done with one of them!!!!
  • buy fabric for the last crib sheet and sew it
  • and finish three bow orders

There is more but this is what I want to actually accomplish before Carleigh arrives!

Update! So i figured out how to make the slip cover for the visor so here it is!!! I wish the ruffle on the edge was longer but oh well.

Bumper pads and crib sheet

Here is what I accomplished today from my to make list. I am quite excited about the bumper pads! At first I was a little worried about how they would turn out but once they were on the crib I fell in love with them!!! The sheet was super easy to make and took about 30 mintures total. It is just a flannel sheet.

Carseat cover

After many months of being distracted from this project I have finally finished the first of two carseat covers! I am pretty happy with the way it turned out. It is not perfect by any means but for the first one it works! Back in April I was trying to find a carseat cover tutorial online but I was unable to find one so I had to fend for myself. What I ended up doing was taking apart my existing carseat cover and my mother in law and I drafted a pattern from it. I then used my pattern pieces to create this cover. The original cover that I took apart I ended up sewing cute fabric on the back side of the original pieces and then sewed them together to create another one. After three kids and a lot of conveyor belts at the airport my original cover looked pretty nasty.

Now all I have to do is figure out how to make the visor cover and it will really be complete! The visor is what really makes the carseat look adorable. I hope I can figure it out. Wish me luck I am going to need it!
disclaimer (I know that this new cover voids the carseat companies safety inspection but so does wearing a coat in the carseat and bundle me so I'm not to worried about it)

What to get a 4 year old

A few weeks ago Zander and Allissa were invited to a Birthday party for a little girl who was turning four. It was the day before payday so funds were limited so this is what I came up with. I made a princess crayon cozy (I put crayons in it after the picture was taken), a princess pillow, and bought a crayola sretch pad to go with it. It cost 4 dollars for everything and I think it turned out pretty cute!

I'm copying my friends,,,

So Aubrey and Abby have inspired me to start my own crafting blog so that my crafts will be in detail here and not on my family blog! I called this blog Darcy's Outlet because with all the craziness in my life with the soon to be four under four the only thing I really do for me is my sewing and crafting. Not sure if I can really say it is for me because in all reality so far all my projects have been for my kids but I truly enjoy doing it!!!!! I am going to try and be better at documenting the things I am working on and my super long to make/do list!

Currently I have finished three of the four quilt tops for the kids bedrooms. I have Allissa's sheet cut out I just need to sew it. I drafted the design for the bumper pads and got the measurements for it calculated last night.

My to make list...

1. Finish Carleighs quilt top and then bind all four of the kids quilts.
2. Bumper pads
3. Fabric cover the light switches
4. Fabric cover the girls lamp shade
5. Diaper stack
6. Make the boys sheets
7. Make Carleigh's sheet
8. Make Carleigh a ton of bows for when she arrives!!!!
9. Sew Allissa a cute dress to wear to my nephews baptism this Sunday.
10. Make a cute nursing cover for me (not that I need one I'm a pro!!!)

I will stop at those 10 things because really the list could go on FOREVER!!!!!! I look forward to crossing things off the list in the next few weeks. Only about 6 weeks until Carleigh Jane arrives so I have A TON to accomplish before then not to mention the 66 bows I need to make for a customer and the house that never seems to stay clean for more then a day!!!

Tomorrow I will try to take pictures of all the things I have finished and what I am working on now!

opps must add one more thing to the list

11. Finish the car seat covers that I made for my infant carriers. (I'm so excited with how it is turning out!
